![]() We were not hounded about the timeshare as many have indicated. It was a new and beautiful area of the resort worth visiting. We spent time in Salum two of the nights which has markets, hammocks, churros and ice cream and a craft brewery etc. We won the room (5 nights) in a charity raffle and were hesitant to go as it was not really a vacation savings when you consider resort fees, expensive dining, transportation and flight, however it was an ok trip with some positives and negatives: Positives: We had no problem finding seating at the pool, service at pool and pool bar were friendly and efficient, and food was average to decent at the restaurants we visited: Salum, Il Cantina, Nektar, Balche, Chiringuito. I will never endure another of these presentations and I won't ever stay at another Vidanta Resort. We did not get out of there until after 1 PM (a 4 hour commitment). This happened 5 times before we were finally allowed to go. Then, they say that they are so sorry, so the next supervisor comes over, apologizes profusely, and tries to add more goodies to the deal to get us to buy. ![]() They act shocked and appalled and then proceed to try and sweeten the deal with more freebie timeshare stuff. So, we complain about him to the supervisor. After I said no - just not interested, he was insulting to my daughter and just an overall creep. He was like a pit bull - grabs your leg and won't let go. The salesperson that showed us the resort was first friendly, then rude, pushy, and ultimately arrogant and indignant that we didn't want to buy a very very expensive week at one of their resorts. They have always been friendly and respectful. I have been to plenty of timeshare presentations over the years. What made our experience so terrible was the "Resort Presentation". The restaurants were very nice - a bit pricy but understandable as we were eating on the resort. They were clean, but looked 20 years old without any remodel. You know, when the bathroom mirror has brown tracks around the edges from moisture. The Mayan Palace rooms (we had two with a lockoff) were shabby and badly in need of remodel. Clearly, the resort is designed to keep you on the resort as a shuttle is required to get you from the main lobby to your room (note, Vidanta is a collection of resorts with one main lobby). Then, we had to wait for a shuttle to our rooms. Check in took about 25 minutes (at the desk) at 1 AM. ![]() We arrived late and it took forever to get our bags through hotel security (metal detector and dogs).
