Note to Devs: An app based 2FA option built into EPIM would be nice way to make EPIM resistant to a lot of spyware and could be a good way to get people to install your android and iOS apps. Pro + VeraCrypt can protect you from many types of keyloggers and spyware when used correctly.Ĭon - EPIM is vulnerable to nearly all types of keyloggers.Ĭommon Sense ~ Either way If you keep anything encrypted relatives will need when you die make sure someone else knows the password as odds are they are not breaking into either file by brute force. Most only support Phone and Email 2FA which is better then nothing. This is why in the end if you care about online account security you most use a good form of 2FA which of course depends highly on if the website supports such a thing. Well your VeraCrypt and EPIM master password and other info in them are safe, the password you just hand typed into your bank account login screen could have still rather easily been stolen. When you need that password you open VeraCrypt or EPIM.etc on a secure offline computer that can not be connected online and then hand enter that password on another computer using a secure virtual keyboard. You store your bank password in VeraCrypt or EPIM or even a personally encrypted physical notebook. Saving passwords to VeraCrypt is little more secure then EPIM IMO as no matter where the passwords are saved you are still using them which opens them up to being spied on by spyware. Thus protecting the files better from ever being obtained by a 3rd party.ĮPIM only allows a normal typed password with no other options and that password can be stolen through keyloggers like any other typed password. ![]() VeraCrypt is more secure when used correctly for many things because you can have a better password system setup and near complete stealth hiding. Am i correct?ĭo you save sensitive data like important passwords, bank informations and documents in EPIM? If yes, do you recommend it? So Dropbox is incapable (theoretically) to open the encrypted the database and see what is there. When the database is saved to dropbox, the file is first saved in the disk, encrypted and then its sent to dropbox. Are those backups secure as the main database? I noticed the backup files are of a diferent size from the main database, it means that they are not copies, but something else, maybe compressed. I know there are lots of ways to achieve access, rootkits, bad passwords, keyloggers, human error, even software exploit etc, but i want to know in this specific situation of someone that has access to the encrypted files. If some knowledgeable person would happen to get hold of my EPIM database file and VeraCrypt storage file, the dificulty to decrypt both files are exactly the same or EPIM encryption is weaker? If i am not mistaken, EPIM uses the same encryption, AES (among others), so let's say that i have a VeraCrypt storage file with AES256 and a EPIM database with the same encryption algorithm. VeraCrypt is hold by many one of the best encryption software. I haven't used EPIM for that because of concerns of safety, but now with the increase of data my memory is getting way to streached out to continue to memorize it all. ![]() ![]() I am using EPIM for work and self organization but now i need a somewhat safe solution for my passwords and some sensitive data like bank and IRS, etc.
